The
Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, under the direction of Chicago native Carol Cymbala, has grown from nine members in 1973 to 285 voices, and
has garnered just about every music award available to them along the way.
Today, the choir ascends the steps of the
Capitol building to render a new arrangement of “Battle Hymn of the Republic”
for the inauguration of President Barack Obama.
Although the Peter Wilhousky arrangement remains my all-time favorite--when the Mormon
Tabernacle Choir sang it at Reagan’s inauguration, the President and
his aides sobbed openly--this one is a close second. Moving in its contemporary yet timeless
beauty, this arrangement is sure to become a favorite among church choirs and concert chorales
the world over.

This rendition was awesome!! The soloist was amazing. But more than that...it was annointed!
